Instagram is going to launch it’s own vertical video platform to compete with the YouTube. It will work exactly like a television on the smartphone. It allows users to create and watch the 15-60 minute videos.
Instagram announces on Wednesday about this new vertical video platform, IGTV. Instagram CEO Kevin did 2 announcements on Wednesday 20th June ‘18
First, Instagram has become a global community of one billion.
Second, they announced IGTV, a new app for watching long-form, vertical video from Instagram creators.

Instagram will roll out this feature to both Android and iOS users over the next few weeks. Videos up to 10 minutes long can be uploaded from the mobile app and longer duration video you will have to upload from the Computer. Videos must be in the MP4 format as per Instagram. In the future, Instagram can allow users to post videos of unlimited length.
IGTV will show videos in portrait mode. “IGTV could make Instagram a more dominant player in the social media industry,”. Tech expert Alex Brinnand from TenEighty magazine said It is a standalone app. when you log in to IGTV, it will automatically begin playing vertical videos from people you follow, along with the personalised recommendations. Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom said We designed this app to make it easier to find and watch videos on the smartphone.

Kevin said, ”there will be no ads on IGTV to start, but that would be a reasonable place to end up.” There would be a revenue-sharing deal with the partners eventually. IGTV will also allow creators to upload video to Instagram. It will be a great competitor for YouTube in future.
Kevin said, most video apps require you to browse or search through a directory.
